Missions Scholarship Information
Funding
- The annual budget allotment for the District NMI Scholarship will be set
each year by the District Council. The Council may award this money as it sees
fit to any of the qualified applicants. A portion of the money may be aawarded
to the Jim Johnson Memorial Scholarship at the Nazarene Theological Seminary
or to the International Scholarship Fund.
- All scholarship budgeted monies will be expended annually.
Eligibility
(in order of priority)
- An Eastern Michigan District missionary who desires additional education,
whether the missionary is on the field or on furlough. This scholarship is
not restricted to area or education nor school attended by the missionary.
- A child of an Eastern Michigan District missionary who requires tuition
for regular college classes.
- Any Eastern Michigan District student called to full-time missionary service
and registered with the Department of World Missions in Kansas City.
- Jim Johnson Memorial Scholarship Endowment at NTS.
- The International Scholarship Fund (to help international students attend
overseas Nazarene institutions.)
Limitations
- The scholarship may be awarded to the same individual for a maximum
of two years, unless there are no other qualified applicants.
- The NMI Council will determine the amount of each award, based on the
available budget and the number of applicants.
Scholarship Selection Process
- Scholarship application forms will be made available upon request
from the District NMI Secretary. Scholarship application form will also be
made available annually to all local NMI Presidents and Eastern Michigan District
missionaries.
- Scholarship applications are to be submitted by the person making the
scholarship request to the District NMI Secretary by March 31, for scholarships
to be awarded in the forthcoming year.
- A Scholarship Review Committee shall be appointed by the District NMI
Council and shall be comprised of no less than four (4) members of the District
Council. The Committee shall review all applications and make recommendations
for scholarship awards at the next Council meeting after March 31.
- Announcement of all scholarship awards will be made during the District NMI Convention.
