PICTURE THAT: Fun Missions Book Activity
By using 15 large perfect square (cube) boxes with portions of each book jacket glued to the sides of the boxes. Have a team of two or three people attempt to stack the boxes on top of each other to complete the one book jacket the director has called for by looking at the picture he/she holds. To add spice, read a short book review and see if they can "picture that" before the book review is finished. (The ideas is taken from the puzzle cubes)
Materials Needed:
- 15 Perfectly square boxes - 4 inch, 6 inch, or larger depending on the size of the audience.
- Enlarged the six NMI reading book jackets - measure perfect squares the size of your box. Cut and glue one portion on any of the side of each of the 15 boxes. Clear contact paper will help preserve for longer use and more fun. You should now have 15 boxes with one portion each of each of the six reading books.
- From Missions Connection collect the NMI Reading Books review . To be read as team stacks boxes.
It is more fun and challenging to not prepare the two or three puzzle builders ahead of time. Call people you know would be good sports to win or lose and enjoy the fun of it. Tell them to "Picture That" in 64 words or less as you read the review. Several years ago I used three ladies and they achieved it with honors of the highest trophy. Then I called on three doctors from the audience and tested to see if the degree helped any. The doctors failed and quit but did receive ROLAIDS. ( Use your superintendent)
