We
are praising God here at the Flint Eastside Mission and there are a
number of reasons why.
1.
Join us in thanking God for supplying a new Walk-in-Freezer through
the gifts of the Davison Free Methodist Church and the Loeb
Foundation through Citizens Bank. These two organizations gave us
grants to complete the purchase and an Electrician friend supplied
the 220 wiring and electrical needs for installation. This means we
can shut down about 7 of the small freezers we have been using. We
expect this will save us on our electric bills.
2.
We are praising God since we purchased a small piece of property
with a house on it that must be torn down, just today I see God
working in ways that
just might make it
possible for this to be torn down with little or no cost to the
mission. This is a crucial piece of property we need if we are
going to expand the outreach of the mission and the New Life Church
of the Nazarene.
3.
We are praising God as we see the hand of God working in the lives
of some of the people who come to the mission on a regular basis.
Progress is often slow and we do not see progress toward God by all
the people who come in to be a part of the mission but some are
beginning to make changes in their lives and in some we are seeing
the glimmer of faith and hope building.
4.
Help the Eastside Mission earn Kroger Community Rewards.
To be a part of this program everyone must sign up online at
www.krogercommunityrewards.com,
click on "Michigan" and click on "enroll."
All participants must have a valid online account at Kroger.com and
must sign up online to participate.
I realize this is much more difficult than the barcode we formerly
signed up with but Kroger has changed the program and this is the
new procedure. we received a check for $687.00 from Kroger this
quarter so this is an important donation for the Eastside Mission.
Thank
you
Rev.

Mission Immersion
Work and Witness Trip to Guatemala:
Mission Immersion is
an opportunity from the General Headquarters that allows teens that
feel called to Missions to participate in a Work and Witness trip.
This trip involved 14 teens from around the United States. Two teens
from our district were able to participate in this trip Mara Mezets
from Lake Louise and Elizabeth (Ellie) Jolly from Lapeer. The trip
was for ten days and involved a VBS for children, painting some
churches and outreach to the people in Guatemala. All the teens
participated in outreach activities during the day and at night
Missionaries Giovanni and Alicia Monterosso taught them aspects of
Mission work. A member of the NMI Council interviewed Ellie for this
edition of the E-Tidings:
-
What was the most impacting part of the trip for
you? Seeing the kids and how we
effected them, and to see how people around the world have so
much less than we do.
-
What is one thing you would change? (other than
the heat and bugs J) It would have been
cool if it could have been longer.
-
What were your goals/expectations for the trip?
To see God at work and to hear my call
better
-
Were they met? How so?
Yes because during our projects I saw God and the experiences
helped me hear God’s call on my life.
-
Do you understand more of what it means to be a
missionary following the trip? How specifically? Yes,
you have to be ready to do what is asked of you and to be able
to do things that God wants you to do whether you want to or
not.
-
Do you have a better understanding of your
calling and of being called? How specifically?
Yes because I learned that God calls everyone in different ways.
You just need to wait and listen and he will let you know what
he wants from your life. Everyone is called.
-
Do you feel the preparation before the trip was
adequate? Yes, I knew exactly what I
needed and was well prepared for the trip.
-
Any additional comments: It
was a life changing experience; I would do it again and again. I
didn’t think this trip would change my life as much as it has. I
heard God speak and feel He wants me to return to Central
America, it has changed my world view and my view of my call and
the church.
