100 Years

100 Years - Out of One, Many

The Nazarene Centennial is an anniversary, not a birthday. It marks a marriage that linked existing families and created a new one. A century ago, the Nazarenes were a predominantly American family with relatives in other countries. Today we are an international family of congregations on every inhabited continent.

No single language, race, or nationality claims a majority of our members. As an

expression of the Holiness Movement and its emphasis on the sanctified life, our

founders came together to form one people who then went forth into the world to

become a people of many cultures and languages.

A CHURCH OF ONE AND MANY

Enriched by diversity, bonded in unity, what holds us together is greater than

what distinguishes us. Our core values are firm: We are Christian. We are Holiness.

We are missional. The mission of the Church of the Nazarene is to make Christlike disciples in the nations—disciples who hear, understand, and obey the teaching of Jesus.

As a missional church, we are a discipling church.

 100th Anniversary

The century ahead will present its own new and complex challenges, but we have a sense of our trajectory. As a church of one, we continue to seek many. As a church of many, we remain one.

EMD Kids Shine at Regional Children's Quiz at ONU !

From Karla Tobey
Our quizzers from across the district did a phenomenal job at the Regional Quiz on June 7th!!! They really showed the region what they know about God's Word, especially the book of Genesis.

In the Red Level (usually grades 1-3), there were 185 quizzers from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.  From that group, 22 kids received a high enough score to receive trophies and be considered in the top quizzers on the region.  TWO of those 22 were from the Eastern Michigan District - Chelsea Martindale from Howell (she didn't miss any questions at all the entire quiz year) and Hannah Northrop from Howell.  The actual Eastern Michigan District Team for the red level placed 5th out of 10 districts present.

In the Blue Level (usually grades 4-6), there were 182 quizzers from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.  From that group, 29 kids received a high enough score to receive trophies and be considered in the top quizzers on the region.  FOUR of those 29 were from the Eastern Michigan District - Luke Rossol (Orchard Lake), Maggie Bungard (Orchard Ridge), John Michael Havel (Rochester First), and Meg McGuire (Rochester First).  The actual Eastern Michigan District Team for the blue level placed 3rd out of 10 districts present, and each of the 5 quizzers on the team received a trophy.
