From the District Superintendent:

Identity theft is all over the news these days. The way I understand it is done is that with a few pieces of vital information, a crook can charge on your credit card, make withdrawals from your bank account, and even steal your social security check. Isn't it interesting that we've have never heard of anyone stealing a person's identity and paying their bills or adding money to a bank account. Or have we?

When Jesus came to this earth, he assumed the identity of humanity. This was not for His good, but for the benefit of mankind. The Bible says:

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!" Philippians 2:5-8 NIV

As we celebrate Thanksgiving and begin the Christmas season, let's remember to thank God for His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus took the identity of humanity and because He did, we have the hope of eternal life. I can't think of anything for which I am more thankful.

Marilyn and I want to wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Steve Anthony

Cornerstone Church Dedicates New Facility

For over 20 years the Pinegrove Church of the Nazarene met in the Washington Elementary School on VanDyke in Washington, MI. The former Auburn Road congregation had almost given up hope of ever having a church building of their own. On November 10th the congregation saw their dream become reality. They now occupy the former Sterling Heights Nazarene property. Much work has been done by Pastor Ken Brier and his people to ready the facility for this important day. With over 100 in attendance, Dr. Stephen Anthony preached and the people celebrated with a balloon launch. A fellowship followed the service in the newly decorated multi purpose room.
