Team Day 2007

Your Eastern Michigan District leadership team is partnering with our friends on the Michigan District to produce the first jointly sponsored Team Day scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2007, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Included in this special training day are plenary sessions featuring the music of the Olivetians from Olivet Nazarene University and the exciting message of hope from our keynote speaker, Dr. Tom White, Executive Director of The Voice of the Martyrs, Inc. In addition to that, we have workshops in Sunday School Ministries, Youth Ministries, Missions, Church Administration, and Leadership tracks. We have added a limited seating offering for technology ministries in the church, hands-on training in computer labs. And we are offering extremely exciting interactive, hands-on, participatory workshops for Children's Ministry leaders and workers that will feature actual ministry productions for children. Children's ministries will be available for all children ages birth through 6th grade at a very reasonable cost.

Team Day

All of this takes place in Perry, Michigan at the Perry High School. Children's Ministries will occur at the Perry Church of the Nazarene, just a few miles from the High School. This year, registrations can be done completely online including payment by major credit cards. Registration cost is very reasonable, $20.00 per adult and $5.00 per child if registered online by February 1, 2007 (or postmarked by February 1, 2007 if sending in the regular mail). After February 1, 2007 you will pay an additional $5.00 per person, adults and children. The registration includes participation in plenary sessions and workshops, as well as lunch and snacks.

Our purpose is To Equip, Inform, and Inspire. We know that you will place this powerful training opportunity on your calendar and that you will promote it in your local church. This promises to be an extraordinary day for ministry training for the lay and clergy leaders on two great districts in Michigan. We are planning to see you at Team Day 2007 at 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2007.

Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Credits

Did you know that licensed and ordained ministers are expected to receive 2.0 CEUs per year?

One way to earn CEU credit is by taking a class through the Eastern Michigan Nazarene Bible Institute (EMNBI). The class cost is $50.

For those of you who don't know, the national standard for CEUs has changed. The old guideline used be 50 minutes = one contact hour and 10 contact hours = 1 CEU. The new guideline is as follows:

When determining CEUs, ascertain the number of contact hours (60 minutes = one contact hour, and 10 contact hours = one CEU). Include ONLY plenary sessions and workshops. In other words, do NOT include anything such as meals, breaks, opening/closing sessions, worship, etc. CEUs may only be granted in increments of 1/10th CEU (one hour = 0.1 CEU).

For more information about CEU credits, visit www.nazarenepastor.org/clergyeducation/Default.aspx?tabid=70
or contact Rev. Don Ault at 989-665-2635 or by email at dnault@tband.net.

Flint Eastside Mission Update
Bill and Barb Burdine, Mission Founders

November and December have been a literal whirlwind of activity at Eastside! In November, over 100 meals were served for our annual Thanksgiving meal. That was followed by a successful fundraising dinner held at Emmanuel United Methodist church.

Right on the heels of the fundraising dinner was our annual Christmas dinner on December 16. 425 meals were served, gifts were given to men, women and children, and over 140 turkeys were given to the families of the eastside of Flint. 73 volunteers showed up for the dinner and were an integral part of the huge success of the day - thank you!

There was even a very special visitor that made sure that the children knew that Jesus loves them and is the REAL meaning of Christmas . . .

The Mission is now closed for the remainder of 2006, and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. A very special thanks to all of those that have helped through their time, donations, prayers and financial support during 2006. We look forward to continuing to minister with you in 2007!

God bless!
