Faculty
All classes offered by EMNBI are taught by qualified faculty. Each
faculty member possesses a minimum of a Master's Degree or equivalent in
a content area dealing with Christian Ministry.
Except for general
education courses, each teacher is required to be an ordained or
licensed minister.
Classes
Classes meet once each week for eleven weeks. Typically, the time of
meeting is from 6:30 to 10:00 pm. Class size depends on current
enrollment, but will average from 8 - 20 persons. Students will
normally be expected to bring textbooks to class with them and to be
prepared for lecture and discussion. Approximately one to two hours of
preparation outside class time is expected for each hour spent in the
classroom.
Students will receive a
current syllabus for their course at the beginning of the first class of
each term. Every syllabus will list course purpose, objectives, needed
curricular material, requirements for credit and course outline.
Facilities
Classes are held at the District Office of the Eastern Michigan District or
in classrooms provided by the local Churches of the Nazarene. Classrooms
meet local fire and safety codes and will be equipped with tables and
chairs for students and instructional equipment for use by the teacher
and class. Each class will receive information on available library
resources which are accessible to the students.
Non-Discriminatory
Policy
Eastern Michigan Nazarene Bible Institute subscribes to the principles
and laws of the State of Michigan and the Federal Government pertaining
to civil rights and equal opportunity, including Title IX of the 1972
Amendment Act. EMNBI policy prohibits discrimination on the basis of
race, sex, religion, age, color, national or ethnic origin, marital
status, or handicap in recruitment and admission of students,
scholarship programs, and in the operation of all institutionally
operated programs, activities and services. Evidence of practices
inconsistent with this policy should be reported to the Director.
Class Attendance
Because an EMNBI education assumes that significant learning takes
place in the classroom, regular class attendance is required. For
illness, family emergencies and/or work-related problems, a student may
miss a total of one week (10%) in any course without explanation or
penalty. Absences beyond this first week will result in the
reduction of one grade step (e.g., B to B-) per week, regardless of
reason. Absences less than one week beyond the first week will be
penalized at the direction of the teacher. No credit will be given after
missing more than a total of three weeks (30%) of a class.
Grading
The following grading system will guide teachers in assessing a
grade to students for class assignments and for the course grade: |
